usefully useless facts.

like, the original story of the sleeping beauty, which isn't really as innocent as the tale we all know.

oh all these stories meant for kids are seriously so.. morbid, that i don't think it's right for us to teach em those kinda stuff at such a young age. hmm, let us take nursery rhymes for example (at this point of time, i kinda remember rambling on and on bout what i'm about to ramble on and on about but, whatever).

in rock a bye baby, the cradle fell in the end, from a tree top, mind you, and it brought the baby and cradle and everything else down to the ground. which is terrible, if you think of it. imagine the gorey scene. and i can only imagine lotsa lotsa teachers/mothers/sisters/grammas/granpas/ the whole yadda-yadda gang singing that so called lullaby (which is an ironic word, really, since the meaning to the nursery rhyme is really far from soothing) to lull kids to sleep.

oh, and don't get me started on humpty dumpty. or london bridge is falling down. or hansel and gretel.. which is not a nursery rhyme, i know. but the witch got baked in an olskool oven in the end. and the wolf in little red riding hood ate LRRH's granny. and.
---

so! that concludes my (ambitious) post bout how i plan to steal the colorful cows by the roadside one day.

  • well, i should be defending nursery rhymes shouldn't i?

ha. but i seriously have no idea why they are made to sound morbid, as you say.

BUT! now, kids or children (cos' kids are baby goat) dont hear much of nursery rhymes anymore. trust me. they listen to Kinderboppers which is so MUCH MORE FUN!

  • somehow that sleeping beauty story seems like a combination of snow white(the whole cooking the children thing) and rapunzel(the whole getting it on thing and having children).

neway, i always thought it was the grimm brothers story. each generation has its weird cautionary tale.

  • hurrah! you got into your dream course! you will be communicating to the masses!

i have been singing twinkle twinkle little star, and baa baa black sheep to my little nephew. i've yet to taint his sweet innocence with gory imageries.

so is one little two little three little indians a song about racism?

and incy wincy spider about masochism?
